Joining the KVFD

Joining the KVFD can provide many things.  It is a great way to give back to your community, you can feel good about making a difference in your town, help people in times of need and get to know your neighbors.
To be a member of the KVFD you must be a resident of Kensington, and complete some portion of the following requirements within one year of joining the department:

Complete a Registered First Responder class (approx. 70 hours) or an Emergency Medical Technician program (approx. 120 hours).

Complete the State of New Hampshire certified Firefighter 1 program (approx. 200 hours).
        
All KVFD members are expected to attend the monthly business meeting on the second Monday of the month.

All KVFD members are expected to participate in monthly training.  Firefighters on the 4th Thursday and Rescue Squad on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7-10 PM.

All KVFD members carry a pager for emergency notification.

The items listed above are the minimum requirements; there are numerous opportunities for advanced training in fire service or emergency medical care for anyone wishing to pursue it.  All training is provided locally during the evening and paid for by the department.
